  A very delicate scent of lemon, wonderful for potpourri as all parts can be used.
Bought over from Chile in the eighteenth century..
 
Annual/biennial/Perennial Annual unless protected indoors or outdoors with leaf mould or straw through the winter. Hard frosts or very prolonged low temperatures will kill it even if protected.
Appearance The leaves are long, of green to yellow colour with pale purple flowers.
Height 6ft/1.8m
Growing Position Sunny and sheltered.

Fertiliser Light leaf mould.
Propagation & soil Stem cuttings can be taken in the summer and over-wintered in the greenhouse.Poor soil with some humus and kept fairly dry.

Spring Best to buy a plant.
Summer Take stem cuttings. Harvest the flowers and leaves
Autumn Over-winter stem cuttings in the greenhouse. Bring plant indoors or cover the roots with leaf mould, straw or bubble wrap.
Winter If you have left your plant outside it will die if the weather is very cold for a long time..
Use The whole plant can be dried and the leaves can be used fresh.

Use the leaves either fresh or dried. Try adding mint leaves in the summer and drinking it iced.
