13-21C Good light, evening sun Peat, moss & rotted leaf mould in equal parts Summer A particular favourite of mine. I have only had the Flamingo plant a year and it has produced 6 baby plants which have been repotted seperately. Dont allow to dry out or get too cold.
APHELANDRA
(Zebra)


18-21C Good light, evening sun Loam Summer It produces yellow bracts which remain colourful for many months.
ARALIA ELEGANTISSIMA

15-21C Good light Peaty mixture Summer Repot every two years. When the pot is twelve inches in diameter just top dress. Slow grower.
ASPLENIUM NIDUS (Birds Nest Fern) 15-21C Poor light Mixture of peat and rotted leaves Summer An epyphetic plant requiring no sunlight, perfect for a north facing window, keep moist.
ASPIDISTRA LURIDA (Cast Iron) 13-21C Poor light Loam Summer Feed only once every two weeks. Water sparingly. Some plants have lasted since the Victorian era but they are difficult to find these days.
AZALEA INDICA

10-15C Good light Mixture of peat and rotted leaves Summer Feed every two weeks and do not allow to dry out. If outside a shady position is best but protect from frosts.
BEGONIA

15C Bright light Check type Summer Feed every two weeks. Peat mixture for B. Rex but B hiemalis Reiger likes a soilless mixture. Cane types prefer a loam base mixture. Keep well watered.
BELOPERONE GUTTATA (SHRIMP)

13-21C Good light, morning sun Loam Summer The Shrimp plant needs frequent feeding. If it gets spindly pinch out the growing tips to encourage bushiness.
BOUGAINVILLEA

13C Sunny window Loam From Spring This beautiful plant loves a bay window or conservatory. Do not cut straggly stems but wind them around others to promote better flowering.
BROMELIADS

15-21C Good light, evening sun Half sphagnum peat half rough leaf mould Summer Used to growing in trees hence the importance of the growing mixture. They are slow growers. Water daily.
