beer would agree. The young shoots when blanched are likened to
asparagus and the fruits called stobiles possess a yellow, resinous
dust that is lupulin, which gives this herb most of its medicinal

This is a potent herb with many valuable uses internal and external,
inflammation of the uterus, to disslove bladder stones, strengthen
hair and nails and enamel on teeth, externally for nose-bleeds ear
and toothache . It is also useful as an effective spray against
mildew on your roses, use the whole plant. It can also be used as
a pan scourer as it has a high silica content. |

It is not recommended that you use aluminium sulphate to make the
flowers blue if you are going to infuse the leaves for medicinal
purposes. |
Only the roots are edible as the leaves contain cyanide. It is a
mild and soothing herb and is effective in the treatment of glandular
disorders, rheumatic troubles, urinary ailments, backache and kidney
troubles. |

Sow the seeds in a sunny position. After flowering cut the plant
back to one third of the years growth. If you live in a mild area
it will stay green all year. |
A few leaves may be eaten raw in salad. All lung and throat complaints,
paticularily helpful in getting rid of mucus. Can be applied to
insect bites and stings. Good for attracting bees to the garden.

varieties. It is a very potent herb and therefore should be used
with extreme caution. Good in the treatment of glandular type ailments.
