Heeling in The storing of plants upright or lying down usually in a trench and the roots being covered over with soil.

Hollow-tine fork A rather ingenious fork with hollow prongs, particularily used for aerating lawns by taking a small core of lawn out.
Hormone rooting powder Used for cuttings to regulate their growth. It can also come in liquid form.
Hormone weedkiller Chemicals that affect the growth and then kill weeds.
Hose-in-hose One flower inside another flower, but an illusion.
Host A plant that gives nutrition to a parasite.
Hotbed A layer of soil ontop of rotting manure or compost. The heat generated from the rotting provides a warm base in which early vegetables can be grown. 
Humidity Warm air holds more water than cold. A warm bathroom will have more humidity than a dining room. Thailand is a more humid country than England.
Humus  Organic matter that is in the final stages of decay. 
Hybrid  A plant which is the result of crossing two different plant species. 
Hydroponics  Growing plants in liquid nutrient solutions and no soil. 
Hypertufa  2 parts sharp sand, 2 parts coir compost and 1 part fresh cement. This mixture is used to make imitation troughs.
