A brief introduction

A greenhouse enhances the growing possibilities of all gardens. Even if your plot is only 17 ft square it is well worth having a small greenhouse, below are some very good reasons that might just persuade you.

  • It is possible to have flowers all year round in a greenhouse.
  • If your plants are kept frost-free they will survive, a temperature at around 7 - 10C is fine.
  • Seeds can be started early ready to go outside once the threat of frosts has passed.
  • You can over winter tender plants that would not survive outside.

A greenhouse need not be expensive, sometimes it is even possible to acquire one for nothing, check your local paper or council clearance, you might be lucky. If however money is not a problem, decide what your requirements are and either look locally or in magazines to see the type that will suit you.
It could be that a conservatory might solve not only your growing difficulties but also give you a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the fruits of your labour.
