POTTED

Check when buying new potted plants for yourself or as presents:
1. There are plenty of new buds under the leaves.
2. Do not buy if the foliage does not look lush, yellow leaves is
a definate no, no.

make sure the soil is damp. |

| GENERAL
|
|
Try
not to walk on your lawn at this time of year as the mud will push
to the surface especially if it is very wet. |
| |
|
Keep
adding to your pile of dead leaves so that you build up a good sized
pile to rot down. Prepare the soil for manure to give your plants
extra food in the summer months. |
| GREENHOUSE |
|
Bubblewrap in your greenhouse acts like double glazing and is well
worth the effort, only use the greenhouse quality. Clean the windows
well to maximise light. Check for pests and diseases. Only water plants
that have dried out, keep a constant eye on them.Go to our
Greenhouse section for lots of useful information. |
| HERBS
|
|
Go
to our huge Herb section for lots of interesting
information. |
| |
|
If
you have too many herbs to use yourself then give some as presents
beautifully wrapped. |
| HOUSEPLANTS
|
|
You
should only be watering your houseplants once a week if required.
Now is the time to think about enjoying a pointsettia or cyclamen,
buy well before Christmas to get the maximum pleasure. Go to the houseplant
section for more information and care advice. |
| SHRUBS
|
|
If
soil conditions are still good then you can still plant shrubs. |
