Umbels of small white to yellow flowers atop thick stalks.

Growing Position Likes damp places with plenty of water..
Fertiliser  
Propagation and soil Rich soil. Sow seeds indoors in Mar/April and plant out in June.
Spring Sow seeds
Summer Keep well watered.
Autumn To keep the celery white wrap the stalks in newspaper at the end of the summer.
Winter  
Use The whole plant.

Specific Use
  • Large quantities are not suitable for pregnant women
  • Eat the stalks raw every day.
  • Use the powdered seed in larger amounts instead of salt.
  • Add the leaves to all casseroles and stocks.
  • Celery is believed to contain a hormone which has an effect similar to insulin and therefore can be used as a flavouring for diabetics.
