Annual/biennial/Perennial	Evergreen
Appearance	Oblong, shiny, leathery leaves with white flowers and round dark berries.
Height	26ft/8m
Growing Position	A sheltered, sunny position.
Fertiliser	Organic.
Propagation and soil	Moist, well drained soil. Take stem cuttings or layer in late summer
Spring	Plant a container grown bay. Position carefully if planting out.
Summer	Pick leaves before flowering..
Autumn	Take stem cuttings.
Winter	If it is in a container keep an eye on it and dont let it dry out.
Use	Leaves.

Areas of help	Tonic, digestion, colic, obesity and to promote appetite.
Specific Use	Use leaves dried or fresh in soups and stews. To eat the whole leaf soften in hot water and chop.
